Chapter - 5: Knowledge, Coordination and Practice is key to success.

With guidance from her Guru and inspiration from ancient texts, Mercy successfully designed her first three tools: Dukand Dvāra, Vīśleṣak, and Pattak. These tools were not ordinary—they were the result of deep understanding, creativity, and the desire to make a difference. After extensive discussions with her teammates and careful consideration of practicality, the team decided to build Dukand Dvāra first.

This device, if completed, would allow instantaneous travel between two portals—an incredible feat of magical engineering. Motivated by their goal, the six roommates created a strict routine. They attended academic classes in the morning and dedicated their afternoons entirely to building the gadget. Observing their unwavering dedication, even the Guru permitted them to skip classes temporarily to focus on their invention.

However, things didn’t go as planned. Despite their efforts, the team faced failure after failure. Frustration began to set in, and their initial excitement started to fade. It was during one of these low points that their Guru intervened. Rather than scolding them, he provided critical feedback, outlining four major errors they were unknowingly making:

1. The metals they were using weren’t suitable for the structure and functions of their gadget.

2. The design lacked proper integration between components.

3. They had inconsistent control over their unique elemental or mystical skills.

4. Most importantly, they lacked team coordination.

The Guru encouraged them to use metal alloys rather than single metals, which would give them better durability and flexibility. He also advised making changes to the design to accommodate the new materials.

With this new knowledge, Tulan began forging various alloy combinations, experimenting with different melting points and compositions. Meanwhile, Mercy revised the blueprints to incorporate these changes. The improvements were immediate—components fit better, the structure was more stable, and progress became visible. But still, they were unable to complete the gadget.

Their bodies began to show signs of strain from constant work and practice. But with that strain came strength—physically and mentally. Their skills were evolving rapidly, even outpacing most other students. However, this individual growth presented a new challenge: loss of synchronization. Each member was developing at their own pace, in their own direction. The lack of unity started becoming the biggest obstacle.

One day, Emely, the quiet observer of the group, noticed something crucial. Everyone was giving their 100%, but their efforts weren’t aligned. The team wasn’t failing from lack of effort—it was lack of harmony. Inspired, Emely devised a solution: she would use her wind manipulation skill to act as a balancing force for the team.

She began by controlling the temperature while Tulan forged the alloys—regulating the heat to the exact requirement and ensuring proper cooling. She also used air molecules to reinforce the molds Bob was shaping, making them stable and precise. The others began adjusting their contributions based on the rhythm set by Emely’s skill.

This simple yet powerful shift—aligning their actions around one consistent, adaptable force—brought new efficiency. Their work became smoother, their synergy sharper, and for the first time, real hope returned.

Finally, after many long weeks and multiple failures, the gadget was completed. Dukand Dvāra was ready.

The joy among them was indescribable. The team celebrated, tested the device repeatedly, and felt a deep sense of achievement. Dukand Dvāra consisted of two pieces that, when activated, created twin portals between which a person could teleport. Only Mercy could control their positions, adding a layer of security and uniqueness to the device.

The next day, the group returned to class—after nearly six months. Their presence surprised many, and the Guru quickly called them after the session. When Mercy presented the device, the Guru remained calm but inwardly beamed with pride. He examined the gadget and acknowledged its effectiveness, saying, “This is a fine invention, but remember—it’s still just a tool. A true mystery skill is something even deeper.” Yet his approval was evident.

He instructed them to keep the device a secret, warning that revealing such advanced creations too early could attract unnecessary attention—and danger.

Recognizing their potential, the Guru arranged for a new private workspace near his quarters. There, he could personally guide them and help them catch up on missed lessons. They resumed classes in the morning and continued their inventions in the afternoon.

Encouraged by their first success, they eventually built the remaining two gadgets:

• Vīśleṣak: Smart goggles that analyze anything Mercy looks at, offering information on demand—a digital encyclopedia in visual form.

• Pattak: A multi-purpose utility belt, capable of storing objects, recording and projecting messages, and deploying emergency smokescreens.

With every passing day, the six roommates grew stronger—so much so that they stood out even among the academy’s elite. Their intelligence, skill, and unity made them well-known within the Vishwa Academy.

One morning, a circular arrived. The Guru read aloud: the Academy would soon conduct a test for Inner Area admission. This would mark the end of their first year at Vishwa Academy. The test would follow a team-based format, with each team of three students engaging in 3v3 battles. The top two teams would receive an advantage: the winner of their match would skip the second round and proceed directly to the final.

The Guru reminded his students that these were the same teams formed at the beginning of the year and encouraged everyone to begin preparing immediately. The competition would be intense—and only the best would gain access to the Inner Area.

As excitement and pressure spread across the academy, every student began training harder, aiming to secure one of the top two spots and reduce the number of battles they would face.
